Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce or ketchup
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 8 oz button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (for thickening)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined; form into four patties.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear patties until browned on both sides (4-5 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms until softened (about 5 minutes).
- Add beef broth, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet; bring to simmer. Return patties to the skillet; cook for about 10 minutes or until cooked through.
- Stir in cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy; cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
