- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 2 large yellow onions, caramelized
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Dried thyme
Instructions
- Caramelize the onions by heating olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown (20-30 minutes). Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with cooled caramelized onions, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried thyme. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a greased slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
- In the last 15 minutes of cooking time, sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese on top and close the lid to melt.
