- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 cup beef broth
- 4 soft chicken hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or Swiss cheese)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce and French onion soup mix to coat the onions.
- Pour in beef broth, simmer for about 5 minutes to meld flavors.
- Add the cooked beef back into the skillet, stirring to combine with onions; season with salt and pepper.
- Spoon the mixture onto the bottom halves of chicken buns, top with cheese.
- Place under a broiler for 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Assemble sandwiches with the top bun and serve immediately.
