Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one by one, mixing after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients with buttermilk; mix until just combined.
- Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Prepare the filling by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth; fold in whipped heavy cream.
- Assemble the cake by layering the filling between cooled layers and topping with whipped cream frosting.
- Garnish with lemon zest and white chocolate curls before chilling for at least one hour.
