  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • A sprinkle of nutmeg
  • 12 cans kidney beans (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, sauté the sliced carrots, sweet potatoes, and diced apples in olive oil for about 5 minutes. Add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg; stir well.
  2. Add the ground turkey and cook until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in the tomato paste and chili powder until evenly mixed.
  4. Add crushed tomatoes and strained tomatoes; combine thoroughly.
  5. Reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for 20-30 minutes. If using kidney beans, add them during the last few minutes of cooking.
