- 2 lbs ground lean turkey
- 2 cups sliced carrots
- 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
- 2 cups diced apples
- 3 cups crushed tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp salt (divided)
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- A sprinkle of nutmeg
- 1–2 cans kidney beans (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, sauté the sliced carrots, sweet potatoes, and diced apples in olive oil for about 5 minutes. Add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg; stir well.
- Add the ground turkey and cook until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes).
- Stir in the tomato paste and chili powder until evenly mixed.
- Add crushed tomatoes and strained tomatoes; combine thoroughly.
- Reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for 20-30 minutes. If using kidney beans, add them during the last few minutes of cooking.
